Foiling lessons – zero to hero
Learn how to foil with current NZ Champion - Lukas Walton-Keim. From day 1 attempts, to learning how to complete racing manoeuvres, Lukas is the one you want in your ear.

what you will do

Depending on where you are with your kiteboarding and foiling skills, Lukas will talk you through the steps and tailor the lesson to best achieve your goals.

Lukas will usually ride along side you, either on a twintip or his own foil board, using our amazing bluetooth radio head sets, feeding you information in the moment.
A first attempt at foiling usually involves some theory chat, a bunch of crashes and laughs (mainly from Lukas). Lukas often puts the board on your feet for a bit, then follows you on a twin tip, to swap with you once you are far enough from your starting point. You can then switch back to your twin tip, come back and do it all over again!

If you are already foiling, and want to learn manoeuvres or work on speed etc. Lukas often takes his own foiling gear out, and follows you around, talking you through the steps on the bluetooth radio headsets, demonstrating, and making sure you are able to relauch your kite, retrieve your board ect.

buy foiling gear

We import, service and supply all foiling gear. Buying of your local school and instructor supports those who support the sport and support you. With Lukas' expert advise, you will be certain to get the ideal gear for yourself at a very competitive price.
Plus Lukas is constantly fundraising for overseas foiling events he competes in where he learns so much he can give back to the NZ kiting world. Justina Kitchens and Lukas came 3rd in the European Open kite foiling in 2019. Let's keep them going!

locations

We use different kiting and teaching sites around Auckland.
Every day, we pick the ideal site according to the wind and weather conditions on the day to give you the best and safest experience. We ultimately decide on the site and times to meet at 9.30am in the morning.

Our favourite teaching beaches are Shoal Bay on the North Shore in Bayswater for the prevailing SW wind and Narrow Neck for all easterly directions. These beaches offer great safe teaching, large areas and the good conditions.

We also go to Kohi if the wind is the from the W or NW or sometimes to Shakespeare Park if it is southerly.

Be flexible to make the most out of your day! Bring some lunch and drink in case we hang around for good conditions.

days to foil

We teach and kite both on weekdays and on weekends, every day the conditions suit, nearly all year long. Simply call us or email us to book a time or to discuss the options.

Ring at 9.30am to find out what we can do on the day and where and when to meet.

Costs - $100 per hour private lessons

Since the foiling is rather taxing and something completely new to most people, Lukas recommends booking in for 1 hour at a time. This allows you to have a go before or after the lesson if you like and keeps the lessons constructive and fun.
Book now by email or use our page to request a booking.
